Fitting instructions for oil filter replacement kit.
WARNING THESE PARTS ARE INTENDED FOR RACE USE ONLY. FITTING AND USE IS AT THE PURCHASERS DISCRETION.

1 : Remove all necessary body work from the motorcycle.

2 : Drain engine oil into a suitable receptor and dispose of at a recycling centre.

3 : Clean the engine around the engine filter area, this prevents dirt and dust from entering the engine oil system when the filter is removed.

4 : Unscrew the engine oil filter on the front of the engine and remove. The filter will retain oil inside so keep it open face up until you empty it, this minimises explaining to your wife / partner how you got the new black pattern on your best trousers / jumper that you are wearing just before that all important dinner date ! (The excuse "I thought I would just do this while you got ready" is a non starter...... trust me ).

5 : Remove the stub fitting from the engine that the filter screws onto, these are not usually too tight, and can be removed carefully using a pair of nuts locked up onto the stub. You can use a pipe wrench but damage to the stub will almost certainly occur in the form of marks so grip it below the top thread if possible and this will minimise the problem.

6 : Ensure the engine / filter machined face is clean.

7 : Place the replacement filter canister into position and finger tighten the screw through the centre.

8 : Apply a spanner / socket to the bolt and tighten to finish. Warning : Do not over tighten this bolt as serious damage to the threads in the engine casing may result.

General :

Remove and clean the filter canister every time you change the oil, wash it out in a suitable de-greasant and ensure you wear the necessary protective equipment (read the instructions on the cleaner container).
Replacement "o" ring seals may be required, your local seal supplier will have these available for a very small sum of money.
Alternatively they can be purchased from us @ £2.50 per set plus postage.

Engine oil : we use Rock oil TRM in the race bike changed regularly for maximum engine protection. If you use the bike hard or for track days I would strongly suggest you change the oil sooner than the recommended schedule in the owners manual for security.

Have fun :
Wait for a sunny day and ride your pride and joy, don't forget we have tuning parts for the 750 Zane motor so don't buy that 748 Duke just yet !!!
